What is Alla Prima?
Alla Prima, an Italian term meaning “all at once,” is a painting technique where the artwork is completed in a single session. Characterized by its wet-on-wet approach, it requires decisive, expressive brushwork and a strong grasp of form and light. This dynamic and efficient method encourages boldness and spontaneity. Students will explore various subject matter, including portraits, figures, and landscapes, with a focus on direct painting based on academic principles.

What You’ll Learn:
- The Alla Prima (wet-on-wet) painting method and how to work decisively.
- How to build a painting from large shapes to final details, going 2D to 3D, in one session.
